Home Insurance

Insurance is an important fact of life and home insurance is one of the most important as it covers not only any physical damage that may be incurred during the time you own your home but can also be used to cover your personal belongings, preventing irretrievable loss through theft, fire or other damage, internal or external, that your home might incur.

However, insurance is not cheap, and as a necessary expenditure to ensure that your home and belongings are financially protected from harm it is best to look at ways of securing and improving your home in order to lower insurance premiums, rather than run the risks attendant to not taking out any insurance policies whatsoever. Installing and updating multiple fire alarms and secure locks to your doors and windows, as well as burglar alarms, can lower your insurance premiums. There are also aesthetic improvements such as double glazing that can lower insurance premiums too: comparatively cheap double glazing prices can lower insurance premiums because it is more durable, thus making your windows harder to penetrate in the case of either accident or malign intent. You might have locks on your doors and windows but a single pane of glass does not present a particularly insurmountable obstacle to a would-be burglar, nor does it provide sufficient protection from, say, flying debris in a storm or the wayward football or cricket ball from children playing nearby. Double glazing can lower insurance premiums because it is tougher, and can withstand more force without compromising either the security of your home or the risk assessment any insurance company may wish to undertake.
