The RAC claim that one in three drivers pay more than they should be for their car insurance. Obviously they’re not shopping around for the best price before agreeing to a policy!

We always recommend you shop around for the best deals, especially with insurance. Play companies off each other with quotes, but do bear in mind different policies cover different things.

If you have a no claims bonus, pay that little extra and protect it! Nothing worse than losing a strong no claims bonus, as it will lead to you paying more if you do get involved in an accident.

Also look at taking a higher voluntary excess. This is you agreeing to pay towards the cost of an accident. Just make sure you can always afford to pay the excess.
